# Action Required State

The action required state is a critical component of the compliance checks conducted by Glomo to prevent money laundering, fraud, and to comply with international financial sanctions. Failure to provide the requested information within the stipulated time frame can result in the transfer being delayed or canceled.

When a payout moves to the 'action required' state, you'll receive a `payout` webhook and a notification on your Glomo dashboard. You'll receive an email once our risk analyst raises the RFI. Payout processing will resume once the submitted RFI documents are reviewed by the team. The payment tracker will show its progress.

You can respond in the dashboard or through the API, with the [Respond to an RFI API](/api-reference/openapi/rfi/respondrfi). For the steps for both, see [Handle RFI for a Payout](/request-for-information/handle-rfi-for-a-payout).

## Respond to an RFI

Below are the steps to submit the requested documents in the dashboard. To respond through the API instead, follow [Option 2 in Handle RFI for a Payout](/request-for-information/handle-rfi-for-a-payout#option-2-upload-via-api).

## Payout State Progression

When a payout goes into the action required state, it follows this order:

| State | Description |
| --- | --- |
| In progress | The payout is being processed and the money transfer is underway. A payout is also in this state while submitted RFI documents are under review. |
| Action Required | Payout is on hold pending compliance review. Our risk analyst reviews the payout and may raise an RFI; once it is raised, respond to the RFI to continue processing the payout. |
| Success | Payout has been successfully completed. |
| Failed | The payout could not be completed. Read `error_code` for the reason. |
| Cancelled | The payout was cancelled, by you or because the compliance team rejected the submitted RFI documents. A compliance rejection sets `error_code` to `PAYOUT_REJECTED`. |
